The Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), established in 1963, is the professional body for all practicing visual artists in Nigeria. In pursuance of it’s objectives, the SNA continues to partner with the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) on ‘Music Meets Art’, an initiative designed to celebrate the ties between music and art while increasing the visibility and appreciation of both means of creative expression.
This year’s programme is a 2-pronged affair, comprising a masterclass and exhibition. Holding on October 18 and 19 at MUSON, the masterclass will be supervised by well-known artists and aim to provide the highest level of instruction in drawing, painting, and sculpture to students and more accomplished professionals alike who wish to enhance their skills. The sitters will be celebrated musicians, and artists will be encouraged to capture likeness and gesture through intense observation and attention to detail. A selection of the most outstanding portraits will be exhibited from October 20 to 26. Part of the money raised will be donated to charity.
